The Journey Begins

Thanks for visiting!

My name is Kori and I’m a mom of two young kiddos, with a husband who travels for work, and a career of my own, who is trying to live a healthy, happy life while balancing it all!  Some days, I feel like I’ve got life under control, every ball in the air is accounted for … and some days it’s a MESS and I want to crack open a bottle of wine at 4PM!  I wanted to start this page to share the tricks for fitting in health and wellness into everyday craziness, funny moments from the front lines of parenting, and recipe, workout and kid tips that I have gleaned along my short journey thus far, and hopefully to find some kindred spirits that can teach me their favorite life hacks because we are not alone in this journey.

My story of fitness began at an early age as I was born into a sports loving family.  I was Varsity in 4 sports in high school and even played softball in college for a bit.  I am not a stranger to the gym and I have tried all the “diets” out there, but always failed.  I would get discouraged as the results stayed stagnant and go back to my old habits (they die-hard, I don’t know if you’ve knew that).

But about a year and a half ago, I not only found a fitness regime that motivates and excites me (High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT, hence the name of the blog) but the nutrition clicked with the simple idea of eating mostly real foods (i.e. fruits, veggies, whole sprouted grains, chicken, fish, steak, nuts, seeds, etc.) focusing on lower fat proteins, veggies and fruits first, then adding in the grains.   Let me preface this by saying I am NOT a Nutritionist or Trainer, so please don’t take my ramblings on this page as gospel.  I have done a ton of research and found what works for me.  Listen to your own body and find what works for you.

My goal is to simply share the healthy swaps I’ve learned so I can eat the FOOD that appeals to me, and hopefully get a conversation going about real life healthy living.   Let’s face it, we know that our health should be a priority, but most people can’t spend their entire day in the gym or thinking about nutrition!  This blog will share some of the things I have found that work for me and I hope will resonate with someone out there too.

I sincerely appreciate you visiting and please know that my site is a work in progress, so I will have lots more recipes, kid tricks and workouts coming soon.  Follow me on Instagram and Twitter @HiitorMess
